Llanbedrog
yw un o ganolfannau pwysicaf Llyn, y wlad baradwysaidd honno y
tu draw i fynyddoedd Eryri. Mae'n enwog am ei thraeth cysgodol
yng nghesail y pentir uchel creigiog â'i wisg o rug a phinwydd
ar ei ymyl.
Yn ogystal â chael ei gydnabod yn un o draethau mwyaf cysgodol
gogledd Cymru, mae'n ddigon posibl fod y ffordd tuag ato wedi
ei ddarllunio'n amlach nag unrhyw fan arall yn Llyn oherwydd ei
harddwch neilltuol. Prynwyd y traeth gan yr Ymddiriedolaeth Genedlaethol
yn 2000.
Bydd y traeth yn denu ymwelwyr yn eu miloedd bob blwyddyn, ond
mae gan y plwyf ei hun lawer o gyfleusterau eraill i'w cynnig
hefyd. Ymhlith y rhain y mae pysgota ar y môr ac ar yr afon,
hwylio a merlota. Fe geir digonedd o ddewis i'r rhai hynny sy'n
mwynhau cerdded, ond nid oes dwywaith mae'r olygfa fwyaf trawiadol
yw honno a geir o ben Mynydd Tir y Cwmwd gerllaw'r pentref.
Ceir un o'r golygfeydd gorau o Fae Ceredigion o Tremfan Hall a
fu unwaith yn gartref i John Gwenogfryn Evans, yr ysgolhaig enwog.
Dylid sôn hefyd am hinsawdd yr ardal. Mae penrhyn Llyn yn
debyg i ynys, a'r môr yn golchi ei lannau ar dair ochr,
ac mae hefyd ar ymyl llif cynnes y Gwlff. Mae lleoliad cysgodol
Llanbedrog yn rhoi iddi'r gorau o ddau fyd. Mae cefn gwlad Llyn
yn ardal sy'n llawn hanes a chysylltiadau â hen chwedlau,
a'r Gymraeg yma'n brif iaith. Mae i Llyn ei chymeriad arbennig
ei hun a phrin y ceir unman yn ynysoedd Prydain â golygfeydd
mor brydferth.

LLanbedrog
is one of the key centers of the unique Lleyn Peninsula, a
demi
paradise tucked away beyond the mighty mountains of Snowdonia.
It is especially renowned for its sheltered sandy beach nestling
under a steep rocky headland covered with picturesque heather
and fringed by pine trees.
Llanbedrog beach is not only recognized as the most sheltered
in North Wales but the breathtaking beauty of the approach
road
has
probably
been painted and photographed more often than any area in this
peninsula of unforgettable scenery. The beach was bought
by the
National Trust in 2000.
Whilst the beach is a mecca to thousands of holidaymakers annually
the parish of Llabedrog has many other facilities to offer.
These include sea and river fishing sailing and boating and
pony
trekking.
For
those who enjoy walking there is an abundant choice but unquestionably
the most stunning spectacle of all is the panoramic view
from
the top of the local mountain, Mynydd Tir y Cwmwd.
Equally impressive is the view of Cardigan Bay from Tremfan Hall,
which was home at one time to John Gwenogfryn Evans, one of the
foremost scholars of early Welsh literature.
The climate is also worthy of special mention. This is mainly
because the peninsula resembles an island, engulfed on three
sides
by the sea, and it is also situated on the edge of the Gulf Stream.
And the exceptionally sheltered position of Llanbedrog gives
it
the best of both worlds. The hinterland of Lleyn is a district
rich in historical associations and legends, with scenery
that
is unparalleled in the whole of the British Isles, scenery that
will live vividly in the memory of the thousands that visit
it
annually, Indeed Lleyn, where the Welsh language is predominant,
has a ' foreign' atmosphere which may be enjoyed without
the expense
and inconvenience of going abroad.
